Formation of Ethnocultural and Civic Identity Among Children of the North

Abstract: The article deals with the formation of civic identity among indigenous children, which is particularly relevant in relation to linguistic and cultural problems of indigenous peoples of the North. The aim of this work is the disclosure of the content of textbooks in the subjects "Culture of Indigenous Peoples of the North" and "Technology" for primary school children as a component of the basic educational program, forming an ethnic, regional and civic identity. These tutorials are aimed at preserving the language and culture of the Northern peoples. Various approaches of foreign researchers to the concepts of identity forms corresponding to the age peculiarities are analyzed. The findings are supported by the results of scientific research in the field of ethno-cultural, linguistic and multicultural education of indigenous peoples, held at the Institute of National Schools of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The results of the study can be claimed by educational institutions in the development of integrated educational programs, forming ethnic, regional, civic identity among children of indigenous peoples of the North. The work of educational institutions is of great importance to foster civic identity of the peoples of the North in the linguistic and cultural diversity.
