The article considers theoretical basis and various schemes of international collaboration in the field of higher education. The authors describe the experience of cooperative educational activities of Volgograd State Social-Pedagogical University (VSSPU) and some universities of China. The cooperation is based on the principle of academic mobility. The example of practical realization of this principle is provided by the joint educational project of VSSPU and Changchun University (China). It is a Bachelor’s degree program, upon completion of which students receive a double diploma. A joint curriculum was developed, which includes not only linguistic subjects aimed at forming language competence but also a number of psychological and pedagogical courses to prepare the students for their professional career as the teachers of Russian. The other forms of collaboration are described, such as student exchange, for credit study abroad programs and internships.
