Abstract: The article is devoted to the issues of collaboration between partner universities in developing and implementing of the joint educational programs aimed at training teachers of Russian for foreign educational institutions. The article considers theoretical basis and various schemes of international collaboration in the field of higher education. The authors describe the experience of cooperative educational activities of Volgograd State Social-Pedagogical University (VSSPU) and some universities of China. The cooperation is based on the principle of academic mobility. The example of practical realization of this principle is provided by the joint educational project of VSSPU and Changchun University (China). It is a Bachelor’s degree program, upon completion of which students receive a double diploma. A joint curriculum was developed, which includes not only linguistic subjects aimed at forming language competence but also a number of psychological and pedagogical courses to prepare the students for their professional career as the teachers of Russian. The other forms of collaboration are described, such as student exchange, for credit study abroad programs and internships. The long-term cooperation between VSSPU and the universities of China in training teachers proves that joint educational projects are a mutually beneficial form of collaboration that enhances the quality of education and contributes to developing academic and cultural links between Russia and China.
