Abstract: The paper discusses the results of the forum “Teach and learn in Russian: The traditions of cultural and educational cooperation between Sverdlovsk region and the provinces of North-Eastern China”. it was held in the Ural State Pedagogical University in Ekaterinburg and in North-Eastern provinces of China (Heilongjian and Jilin) in October-November 2016. Russian and foreign teachers of Russian as a foreign language took part in the forum, as well as the students of Chinese universities studying Russian, graduates from the Russian universities – citizens of China. Different kinds of work were combined in the forum: the competition of papers, conference, master classes from the experienced lecturers of the USPU, reunion party, individual and group consultations of the specialists in teaching Russian as a foreign language. The main goal of the forum is promotion of the Russian language abroad and experience exchange of Russian and Chinese teachers of Russian. Special attention is paid to the Russian language as a means, which opens great opportunities of cooperation with Russia development; the issues of interest to the Russian language and motivation to learning were discussed.
