Understanding and Interpretation of Culture as a Way of Representation of a Scholar (A Review of the Book «Culture: A View from Russia» by A. S. Zapesotsky)

Abstract: The article is written after reading the book "Culture: a View from Russia" which comprises of the main scientific papers by A.S. Zapesotsky published between 1997 and 2013. The reviewer highlights the way the author interprets deep and meaningful reflections of D.S. Likhachev about culture, V.S. Stepin`s contribution in the theory of culture, and the modern approaches to philosophy and culturological education, the phenomena and processes of development of culture. The image of the scholar in culture is essential for the author of the book and D.S. Likhachev is a prime example of it. The book presents an experience of studying culture as well as opens up new perspectives in culturology.
