Abstract: The article presents an analysis of various typical roles and functions of the pedagogue, considers the modern roles of the pedagogue, which are dictated by the need of modern school for a mobile, competitive teacher with a new type of thinking. Analysis of psycho-pedagogical literature allows the author to single out the set of modern pedagogical roles: tutor, moderator, facilitator, researcher, trainer, manager, innovator, and others. The characteristics of the roles show that the modern pedagogue becomes fundamentally different; he does not simply relay knowledge but creates the conditions for the development of the student and his/her potential. Thereby, it is necessary to underline the development of the pedagogue’s role position in the higher school education process. The acmeological system is the instrument of the pedagogue’s role position development. This appears as a system of requirements, conditions and factors contributing to the progressive development of professional skills and the personality of the pedagogue. The authors outline common and distinctive features in the developed acmeological systems of role positions of the pedagogue: tutor, moderator, facilitator, researcher, trainer, manager and innovator that can be used in the higher school education process both as the target in the development of the role of the future pedagogue positions and for the assessment of its level.
