Formation of Pronunciation Skills in Infants and Preschool Children with Mild Impairments of the Organs of Articulation

Abstract: The paper describes the main developments in the system of preschool speech therapy at the present stage. It presents some modern approaches to the problem of formation of pronunciation and correction of articulatory disorders in children with impairments of the organs of articulation and differentiates the notions of "severe" and "mild" defects of the speech apparatus. The author characterizes the structure and mechanisms of articulatory disorders in children with impairments of the organs of articulation and dwells on peculiar features of formation of pronunciation skills in the conditions of pathology of the structure of the organs of articulation in infants and preschool children. The article defines the groups of preschool children with articulatory disorders and mild impairments of the organs of articulation based on the structure and mechanism of articulatory disorders and analyzes the main aspects of the logopedic work with infants and preschool children with disorders of the structure and functions of the articulatory organs. The author outlines the main areas and tasks of logopedic correction of pronunciation disorders in these children. The article also discusses the specificity of logopedic work in formulation, automation and differentiation of speech sounds in children with mild impairments of the organs of articulation which is carried out simultaneously with orthodontic treatment. The author presents techniques of speech therapy aimed at normalization of articulation muscles tone development and articulation of praxis, formation of pronunciation skills in infants and preschool children with disorders of the structure and functions of organs of articulation (differential logopedic massage, facial and articulation exercises, myotherapy, phonetic rhythm drills, etc.).
