Abstract: Environmental education, in connection with the increasing pollution and degradation of the environment, exhaustion of natural resources, imbalance of the biosphere, climate change, deterioration of human health and limiting the possibility of further development is a priority. In the conditions of modern ecological crisis, overcoming of which can ensure the preservation of humanity on the planet, the basis of moral education of man is the development of sustainable relationship between man and nature. The need for ecological knowledge is dictated by today's reality: to preserve the nature, to preserve it for our descendants at least in the present condition, new environmental thinking should be developed. Environmental education in the development of the education system, taking into account the "green" economy is a priority. The "green" economy means production of various types of cleaning equipment, recycling of waste, provision of environmental services, etc. In this case, “green” economy is only a part of the "great" economy. Important features of this economy are: efficient use of natural resources; conservation and enhancement of natural resources; reducing pollution; low carbon emissions; prevention of the loss of ecosystem services and biodiversity. The problem of waste management in recent years has acquired special relevance and is discussed at the state level, in business and, ultimately, affects all of us. Only in the EU, the turnover of a new branch approached in 2005 100 billion Euros, and the number of jobs in this branch is 3.5 million. Environmental education prepares a person for life in the biosphere. Unfortunately, we have to admit the poor state of environmental education and upbringing.
