Abstract: The article discusses the question of content, methods and means of formation of initial concepts of the norms of the Russian literary language in junior schoolchildren. In order to clarify the content of work on the formation of ideas about the norms of language, the author analyzed the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard, the model program and the Russian language textbooks for primary school. The following areas of work were identified: formation of elementary ideas about linguistic norm and literary language normativity; awareness of compliance with literary norms as an indicator of human culture; acquaintance with dictionaries, ability to use a dictionary to find information about the correct pronunciation and use of a word; improving accuracy of pupils’ speech; teaching how to evaluate one’s own and someone else’s speech from the perspective of its compliance with the norms of literary language. Taking into account typical speech errors of students and the content of the primary linguistic, the author defines the grammatical norms of the Russian language for junior schoolchildren to master. The article proposes to use the learner’s dictionary of the Russian language difficulties for junior schoolchildren, which reflects pronouncing, lexical and grammatical norms of the Russian literary language in an accessible form. The article enumerates the types of vocabulary exercises which help to generate ideas about the literary norms and ensure the improvement of literacy of speech and the formation of the students’ ability to work with the dictionary.
