Abstract: Professional mobility as the ability to carry out professional activities in related spheres is an important requirement to modern specialists. For those who study foreign languages as their future profession related spheres are translation and teaching. But in practice, students of linguistic faculties have often no pedagogical training, that’s why they cannot teach foreign languages. The author developed an optional course for future linguists “Introduction into the theory and methods of teaching and education” aimed to acquaint them with the foundations of communicative methods of teaching foreign languages. The course takes into account the diversity of target groups learning foreign languages, and considers various teaching conditions; in accordance with this the elaborated course deals with training LSP-teachers. The article presents the component analysis of formed competences at the levels to know / to be able / to possess, which define the whole course content. According to the author the main teaching means should be practice oriented tasks, which allow the students to get acquainted with teachers ‘activities and to solve professional problems. In addition to forming linguo-didactic competence the elaborated optional methods course develops skills of methods analysis, which may contribute to the development of self-learning skills of students to support or to raise their language acquisition level.
