Abstract: The article is devoted to various interpretations of the concept "patriotism" in linguistics and related disciplines: social philosophy and pedagogy. It discusses the issues associated with value attitudes of contemporary students to patriotism in the context of language as a mirror of socio-political life of society. The article aims to formulate value-meaningful levels of perception of patriotism in the discursive practice of the Russians. The author believes that the conducted survey can be viewed as collective reflection that aims to restore the broken consensus in the society regarding patriotism and the attitude towards it by young people. In his opinion, value-meaningful space of Patriotic discourse involves communicative democracy, where the reasoned opinions of students, teachers, their experience and moral development are considered.
