Abstract: The subject of this study is the experience in the development of infographics in practical classes in pedagogical university. The main development stages of infographics are considered in the article: goal-setting, collecting and verification of information, systematization of data and development of the concept, prototyping and implementation. The principles and technologies of creating infographics in three aspects are considered: design, media communication and semantic. Four types of media kinds of infographics are presented: static, dynamic, interactive and video. The classification based on different types of the mental models making the basis of infographic is presented. Classification includes spatial, temporal, abstract, quantitative and comprehensive infographic. A comprehensive analysis based on the unity of the semantic, media communication and design aspects can reveal the relationship of form and function of an information product. During the analysis of various design stages the complex of cognitive abilities, skills of information processing and media communication, which are formed in practical classes in infograpics development at the pedagogical higher school. Particular attention is paid to the development of information processing skills and visual thinking. Work on the implementation of the prototype allows the students to obtain information processing skills in different forms of presentation (text, numeric, graphical (static and dynamic), audio, video) by means of web resources.
