Abstract: The article considers the multilevel education in a context of its socialization function. Master preparation is the focus of attention. The material is sociological research carried out by the author: questionnaires of USPU magistrants, expert interviews of master programs advisers, and rectors of pedagogical and social-humanitarian higher educational institutions. A special role is allocated to problems of magistrants attitude, heads of programs, chairs, universities to real results of functional tasks performance of this level of preparation, its resource maintenance. Special importance in this case gets the adjusted system of monitoring their vital destiny, ways of self-determination and self-realization in postgraduate period. The efficiency of realization of the generated set of structural and functional competences is considered as means of socialization potential of both graduates and institution, which has ensured him with a due level of preparation.
