Abstract: This article is devoted to the 20th anniversary of the Institute of Psychology (Faculty of Psychology until 2009) of the Ural State Pedagogical University (hereinafter USPU). The article refers to the origins of organization of the psychological training of students in this institution from the day Department of Psychology was established in 1946 to the establishment of Department of Practical Psychology and the introduction of the unique project "Ural Psychological Workshops". The contribution of USPU to the training of professional psychologists for the national education system is especially underlined. The article emphasizes the practical orientation of students' training, which allows to adapt scientific achievements to the needs of educational psychologists. The article presents the most significant events for the development of the Institute, its scientific, human resources potential. Particular attention is paid to the authentic projects of the Institute: All-Russian Student Olympic Games in Psychological and Pedagogical Education, the Student Forge, international educational programs "Global Leadership", "Global Understanding", "Intercultural Dialogue in Russian" and many others. The author notes that from the moment of establishment, the leading domestic and foreign universities and scientists collaborated with the Institute. In recent years, the Institute has become one of the active participants in the projects of modernization of pedagogical education in Russia, and it also takes part in the development and approbation of the professional standard of a school-psychologist. Among the achievements of the Institute there is a significant number of candidates and doctors of sciences graduated from the departments of the Institute. In conclusion, the author outlines prospects for the development of the Institute of Psychology of the Ural State Pedagogical University, which include the development of new educational programs relevant to the regional labor market, network interaction with leading universities of Russia and abroad in the field of training of highly qualified specialists, and development of the Institute of Psychology as a basic regional platform for the implementation of innovative educational projects.
