Abstract: The article is devoted to the problem of identification and description of the role of vandalism in socialization of modern young people. Socialization in contemporary society must be considered as a complex, multifaceted and nonlinear process built on the interaction between youth and society. Vandalism gives young people an opportunity to change and transform their social reality. That is why it must be described as an essential factor of socialization nowadays. The article analyzes the certain characteristics of vandalism, which make it an important part of the socialization of young people: the possibility of self-presentation in society; the opportunity of demarcating space; and the possibility to show one’s strength. The article contains the results of special survey, conducted by the authors to explore the role of vandalism in the life of contemporary young people. The results of the research can be used to expand and clarify the specifics of the socialization of young people in modern society, and also to identify the specific influence of vandalism on the process of formation of social subjectiveness of young people.
