Abstract: The article studies the urgent problem of formation of value orientations of teenagers as bases of their personal self-determination. The author's method "Momentary situation" which is based on situation approach and corresponds to the conception of personality orientated education is offered. Creation of an educational situation is the cornerstone of application of this approach, it allows to give personal sense to the studied object. The method is realized in the form of an educational and methodological manual which can be used at the lessons of a foreign language, inclusinf Russian and Russian Literature. The purpose of this manual is to provide some help to the teacher of philological subjects to achieve personal results of training by pupils and to form a system of value orientations. The educational and methodological manual represents a set of cards, each of which contains two situations for discussion, their analysis and the decision. The technology of application of the method assumes the use of various methods and ways of the organization of work on formation of the identity of the student. The essence of the technique is to use one card containing educational situations every lesson that leads to activization of internal meanings of the studied material through an opportunity to express one’s own opinion and to reason it. Regular application of the method promotes formation of key values of the personality, increases stability of the system of values and orientations, and develops communicative competence of students. The method has been tested on a selection of students. The results of this experiment which showed considerable positive changes in axiological system of the identity of students are presented in article. They prove "Momentary situation" to be an efficient method.
