Point-Rating System for Evaluation of the Student Learning Activity: The Questions of Implementation

Abstract: The presented article concludes a series of works published in the journal "Pedagogical Education in Russia" and is devoted to the discussion of the use of point-rating systems (PRS) in the educational practice of universities. Previously, general approaches to the construction and application of PRS in domestic and foreign universities were analyzed, the merits and demerits of the mathematical and organizational models of the PRS were detected. A generalized mathematical model was constructed that allows the teacher to create a PRS taking into account the specifics of the study of the discipline - types of educational activity, evaluation scales and threshold values. The universality of the proposed approach was illustrated by examples. This article is devoted to the description of the software implementation of the previously proposed algorithm for constructing a disciplinary rating indicator. The implementation is an interactive screen form with which a teacher can make the PRS for his subject. The form is called "Generator PRS" and is implemented on the cloud platform Google Drive. The generator is a Google-spreadsheet document with interactive elements created using the language to automate the work with on-line applications of Google Apps Script. The results of the work of the Generator are the electronic journal of current academic performance and the summary register with the elements of statistical processing - they are also spreadsheets placed in the Google cloud. The work with the journal and the register and their viewing is carried out in the cloud space, which provides easy access to information of all interested persons - the teacher, students, administration. The sequence of work with the generator is described in detail. The procedure for exporting data from the discipline journal to the cloud environment Google for Education to the Generator is discussed. The conclusion about the possibility and expediency of practical implementation of the ideas outlined in the presented series of articles is made.
