Abstract: Members of the Russian government repeatedly offered to increase the age of retirement in Russia to reduce the burden on the Pension Fund. The adoption of such a decision would lead to increased competition for jobs between pensioners and younger employees. In 2016-2017, the interest of business owners and top managers to mature applicants for vacant jobs increased. It is proposed to use professional standards, in addition – professiograms, the results of medical, psycho-physiological examination, information on the received vocational education, the production experience of applicants, in order to find the best correspondence of the requirements for retirees wishing to take the position. When processing the collected information, it is necessary to apply methods of multivariate statistics. For the elderly, the topicality of the knowledge accumulated by the individual is especially important. It is advisable to prepare additional representatives of the "third age" selected as a result of professional selection. Production relations in a particular territory affect the need for additional vocational training and retraining of pensioners. In Ekaterinburg - the "center of attraction of manpower in the Sverdlovsk region" – there was a relatively large number of vacancies for pensioners. The variety of the vacancies, low incomes of elderly people, residence of potential students in various territories leave little hope for an effective work of the enterprise engaged in the retraining of pensioners by means of traditional methods. It is advisable to use distance educational technologies, e-learning for professional retraining of people of retirement age. In order to ensure proper training, the presence of specially authorized persons – proctors who get salaries for ensuring the quality of taking examinations and tests by the students is necessary.
