Abstract: The article describes the diagnostic procedures (formative and final stages) to identify the level of formation of performing skills of cadets necessary to sing marching songs. The initial diagnostic procedure is conducted with the students of cadet schools of the Sverdlovsk region of Russia. The final procedure was carried out after one year of training of the same cadets, who were taught to sing marching songs using the worked out technology. Based on the genre and the specific characteristics of the marching song, the features of vocal development of cadets, the level of motor skills development and difficulty of performing marching songs, special criteria and indicators for diagnostic procedures have been identified. These criteria are: the ability to keep singing and stand properly; the ability to feel a pulsation when singing a marching songs and marching; the ability to hold the tempo of the song while marching; the ability to combine singing marching songs with synchronized movement of arms and legs. The description of measurement methods for each criterion is given, which include creative tasks – singing of various combatant songs by pupils. The article provides estimates of the results that can be successfully used when working with the cadets to teach them sing marching songs. For the most accurate and reliable results of statistical calculations we performed an analysis of the results obtained at the final stage with the help of the method of "Fisher's exact test.
