Abstract: The article provides an overview of the results of the project ‘Lapta: Interactive Mobile Games with the Russian Educational Content’ implemented by Ural State Pedagogical University with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation as part of the implementation of selected activities of the State Program Development of Education. The search and development of new solutions and approaches to the Russian language teaching are due to students' social, psychological, age interests and needs, on the one hand, and the specifics of the information and telecommunication technology use in the modern world, on the other hand. Interactive mobile games used in teaching Russian as a foreign language make it possible to organize the process of teaching and control to enable students to develop and improve their linguistic skills and speech abilities, to form social and cultural and intercultural competences to use the Russian language as a means of communication in the social area at any time. Mobile learning is based on the use of mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.) and available to those who wish to get to know the Russian language regardless of their age. The project Lapta was presented at the international scientific conferences in Russia and Slovakia. Within the framework of the project, 15 interactive games with the Russian educational content were developed, and advanced training courses for teachers of Russian as a foreign language were held. The main aim of the events is to promote foreign citizens’ motivation to study Russian in both a native and non-native linguistic environment through interactive mobile games.
