Abstract: The project Lapta is an example of interactive gaming technologies, which successfully combine national traditions and an innovative approach to education. This is a mobile game with the Russian educational content which enables to form speech, linguistic and communicative competences. The mobile learning of Russian as a foreign language enables students to develop and improve linguistic skills and speech abilities, to form social and intercultural competencies at any time and in any place. The project is aimed at foreign citizens who have not previously studied the Russian language or know the Russian language to the extent, which does not reach the elementary level. The implementation of the principles of the The article focuses on the presentation of the project Lapta implemented by Ural State Pedagogical University with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation as part of the communicative and activity approach in the project involves the development of speech as a means of communication in different communicative situations during the game. The game material in the project is selected in such a way that the games help to master basic phonetic, grammatical and lexical concepts of the norms of the Russian language, as well as to form elementary skills for their use. In addition, students get acquainted with realities of the Russian life during the game and get an opportunity to learn more about the Russian culture.
