Development of Foreign Language Auditive Competence of Students of a Non-linguistic University (On the Example of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia))

Abstract: This article is devoted to the development of foreign language auditive competence of students of a non-linguistic university on the example of the North-Eastern Federal University in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The teaching of foreign language auditive competence of students of a non-linguistic university in a conversational and professionally-oriented context is one of the fundamental factors of the system of training specialists in a non-linguistic university for the purposes of effective foreign-language communicative interaction. The purpose of the article is searching of theoretical substantiation and understanding of effective ways of developing the foreign language auditive competence of students of a non-linguistic university, the implementation of which ensures the effectiveness of the development of auditive competence. To solve this problem, the author proposes the using of such teaching methods as project, audio-visual, PowerPoint presentations, combined by thematic basis, listening to professionally-oriented video recordings, exercises aimed at developing auditive skills, and using creative tasks in the form of a cryptogram , anagrams, puzzles and crossword puzzles to consolidate vocabulary. The author explains the using of the audio-visual method on the basis of the gender and national characteristics of students from among the indigenous peoples of Yakutat, since the educational material is better mastered based on the visual range. Students with interest perform exercises aimed at foreign language perception, segmentation of the speech flow. As a result of the teaching, students have replenished the lexical reserve for the studied training profile, there is a noticeable difference in the ability to differentiate individual sounds, words, semantic syntagmas, readiness to perceive foreign language is noted, and an ability to understand the detailed, general, semantic content of the message being audited is formed in accordance with the objectives learning.
