Abstract: The article presents an overview of an International scientific and pedagogical forum “The Image of Russia in global educational space: language, history, culture”, which was held on May 23-26 2019 at Ural State Pedagogical University (Russia, Yekaterinburg) and Jilin University of international studies (China, Changchun). The activities of the Forum participants were carried out at different sites: within the framework of this scientific platform, an all-Russian scientific and practical conference with international participation “Cognitive strategies of philological education in Russia and abroad” was held, dedicated to the 220th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin’s birth. The scientific and pedagogical platform assumed the work of separate pedagogical sections “Theory and practice of Russian language teaching in China” (on the basis of Jilin University of international studies, China, Changchun) and “Social and cultural adaptation of migrant children within inclusive education” (on the basis of Ural State Pedagogical University). The discussion platform included work of round tables “Image of Russia in the global educational space: myths and reality” and “Image of a country in textbooks of national language for foreigners”. Advanced training courses “Theory and methods of teaching Russian language and literature in Russia and abroad” were held. More than a hundred people from 12 countries and 22 cities of Russia attended the conference full-time and part-time. Forum participants, university and schoolteachers of Russian and other languages, as well as literature and other philological disciplines’ teachers from different educational centers of the world summarized the experience of teaching literature and foreign languages, including Russian as a foreign language, in Russia and abroad. They considered the relationships between Russian philological education traditions and the trends of modern language and culture development. They discussed topical issues of linguodidactics, methods of teaching languages and literature in multicultural and polylingual education; discussed the prospects for improvement of philological education strategies in global educational space.
