Abstract: The article considers a problem that has become noticeable: in the Ural region, against the backdrop of the development of modern dance, folk stage dance is becoming less and less popular. Contemporary dance, namely “contemporary dance”, can rightfully be called a form of choreographic art: this is one of the new dance styles that combines elements of western dance and eastern culture. This is a kind of creativity that promotes emancipation, making the dancer free in a meaningful movement, it is a highly developed dance language that optimally reveals contemporary problems. The art of modern choreography is being improved and is in constant development, new technologies are used in productions. Unfortunately, this cannot be said about the art of folk stage dance, which is losing ground. If in the West new types of choreographic art constantly developed, being in the conditions of fierce competition, in Russia conservatism and unoriginal thinking of individual teachers-choreographers contributed to a certain stagnation in the development of folk dance art. The task of today's teachers-choreographers is not only to carefully preserve, but also to improve folk dance, using modern technology, and the main goal of teaching students-choreographers is to train professionals who are able to solve the existing contradictions between the requirements of modern choreography and the need to preserve folk traditions and customs. Folk dance is one of the main means of patriotic education of the younger generation. Folk dance, as a rule, is major, evokes positive feelings and emotions in children, forms important competencies, enriches with a variety of rhythms. The choreographer’s teacher is required not only to teach children to dance, but also to instill love and respect for the folk dance, for the spiritual values of our country.
