Abstract: The article discusses the basis, methodology and results of the study of the influence of personality features on the personality’s perception of the social space. It is shown that the concept of social space is a complex and structured reflection of social interaction mediated by social norms in the individual’s consciousness. The notion participates in social interaction, on its basis the personality organizes and regulates relations with other people, coordinates its activity. The empirical study aims to determine the mediating role of personal features in shaping the notion of the possibilities and limitations of social space. The methods of research are standardized self-reports. Statistical processing is carried out by methods of descriptive statistics, the effect of mediating is estimated by regression analysis (GLM mediation models). The results show that adolescents’ perceptions of the limitations of social space are receptive to the perception of opportunities and limitations. The representation of teenage offenders about social space is characterized by less volume and segmentation of interaction, homogeneity of its participants, and denial of social control over themselves. In general, it is perceived as interfering with and hindering the interaction. The evaluation of personality peculiarities as a mediator showed that social introversion, impulsivity, anxiety and individualism are involved in the formation of such a perception. The result of the study was a new knowledge about the reception of regulated social space by adolescents, as well as the mediator role of personality traits, which impair the assessment of the possibilities of social interaction.
