Bullying as a Social and Psychological Phenomenon: Analysis of Theoretical Approaches and Empirical Research

Abstract: The relevance of the study of bullying in the school environment is due to the scale and topicality of this phenomenon around the world, as well as the emergence of new, previously unexplored characteristic forms and features. Methodology and methodology. The work was carried out within the framework of two methodological approaches: symbolic interactionism, as well as psychology and sociology of deviance. Results and scientific novelty. The concept of bullying and its structure are clarified. A comparative analysis of numerous Russian studies of psychologists and sociologists, as well as an analysis of foreign studies of bullying, which demonstrate the process of growing individual facts of violence and aggression in such a phenomenon as bullying. This is due to the high level of atomization of society, the loss of interpersonal and intergroup trust, as well as the dysfunction of social institutions. The article describes the features of bullying at the present time and suggests measures to prevent violence in the school community.
