Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of personal and professional self-realization as a key area of research in modern psychology. The aim is to consider the phenomenon of self-realization in domestic and foreign psychological science and to identify urgent problems and areas of its research.
In order to actualize the problem field, an analysis of the directions of modern studies of human self-realization by domestic and foreign researchers is given, positions that are the theoretical basis for considering this phenomenon are highlighted.
One of the key problems today is the determination of the characteristics of the ratio of professional and personal aspects of self-realization. Two polar approaches to understanding the ratio of professional and personal self-realization were found: 1) personal and professional self-realization as independent formations studied independently of each other; 2) personal and professional self-realization as interdependent categories.
The methodological one-sidedness of studies of the phenomenon of self-realization in modern psychology has been established, namely, the study of self-realization in isolation from the influence of the environment and society. The question is raised about the prospects for studying psychological predictors of a harmonious combination of self-realization of an individual in both professional and personal spheres of life.
Key words: self-realization of personality; professional self-realization; systems approach; self-actualization of the personality; psychological well-being.
