Abstract: The article examines the characteristics of the professional (academic) activities of deontological students, who are full members of the internal affairs agencies. It describes the extreme situations in terms of professional tasks of the Internal Affairs Agency (IAA) staff, highlights the theoretical aspects of the study of self-regulation, and provides the direction for psychological assistance of educational process of deontological universities students. The relevance of the problem investigated is due to the need to develop new, innovative means of enhancing the success of the service (learning) activities of deontological university students, using methods of mental self-regulation according to the specificity of training. One of the main challenges is not only transfer of knowledge but also the development of the professional qualities required for the successful performance of service tasks and the observance of ethical standards of conduct arising from the requirements of deontology. Therefore, during the entire period of study at deontological university, it is necessary to train cadets to improve the success of service (training) activities by observing moral imperatives and by increasing the hidden reserves of mental resources by means of emotional regulation of behavior. Lack of development of the issue of mental self-regulation in the educational process, as well as the undetectability of psychological mechanisms for the impact of emotional self-regulation on the success of service (training) activities identifies the need to develop and test the recommendations of the study on improving the vocational training system of deontological university students. The material in this article may be useful for the teaching staff of deontological educational organizations, as well as psychologists who provide psychological assistance to the personnel of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, which would contribute to the training of qualified staff.
