Abstract: The authors describe the concept of «professional competence of a teacher» and single out its structural components. Based on the analysis of research works by foreign and domestic authors it is possible to formulate the main directions of psychological-pedagogical support to the development of professional competence of a teacher taking into account specific conditions of educational environment.
