Abstract: The article considers the ethno-cultural situation in the Urals in its historical retrospective and contemporary trends. The author has identified a number of factors influencing the effectiveness of inter-ethnic communication. Much of the article is devoted to the analysis of a survey of students of the Institute of psychology, dedicated to the process of migration and migrants.
