Illustrated Book of Poems “From Children – to Veterans” as a Technology of Education of Patriotism at Primary School Age

Abstract: The article explains the importance of teaching children patriotism at primary school. The authors consider the structure of the illustrated book of poems, "From Children – To Veterans", created in the Ural State Pedagogical University to bring the history of the Great Patriotic War to primary school children. There are two factors to ensure the formation of an objective image of the war, based on the specifics of the selection of creative works of poets, soldiers, representatives of the post-war period and contemporaries, as well as specifics of the technique of illustrations by children of different ages. In addition, the article provides the technology of work with a book as additional material in educational institutions and gives methods recommendations for its use in different areas. Junior school age is sensitive to the development of moral feelings. Nevertheless, it is necessary to take into account the socio-economic development of society and other factors and according to all this change and alter the methods of education. While working with the illustrated book of poems "From Children – To Veterans" it is worthwhile to distribute the material for the whole period of 9 months of the school year. The book "From Children – To Veterans" may be used as additional material at the lessons “Literary Reading”, “Figurative Arts”, “Environment” in the section “Man and Society” to broaden the scope of vision of schoolchildren in different subjects.
