Abstract: The article presents the results of design and approbation of the program of socio-professional adaptation of grown-up people with speech impairments (stammering). It characterizes the parameters of of socio-professional adaptation of such people and reveals the factors influencing the process of socio-professional adaptation of grown-ups with speech impairments. The methodological and theoretical basis of the research includes the following: principles of general and special psychology on the structure of defect in case of speech impairments (L.S. Vygotskiy, A.R. Luriya); conceptions of professional development (V. Ginzburg, D. Super, D. Pelletier); theory of professional consulting (E. Klimov, C. Pryazhnikov); method of emotional stress therapy (K.M. Dubrovskiy) and method of stable normalization of speech of stammering people (L.Z. Arutyunyan). The program of socio-professional adaptation of grown-up people with speech impairments consists of two blocks and lasts for 6 months. The first block is aimed at correction of speech; the second one contains work on the discovery of individual psychological properties of the members of the group and search of resources for outlining one’s future professional career. The article uses the following testing methods: diagnostics of socio-psychological adaptation by K. Rogers and R. Diamond; the questionnaire of health, activity and mood; the questionnaire of satisfaction with one’s position in society by V.N. Pirogov and questionnaire surveys of the group members. The method of mathematical statistics (the Wilcoxon signed-rank test) was used to test the results. The positive dynamics of adaptation parameters is a criterion of effectiveness of the program: acceptance of one’s own self, acceptance of others, satisfaction with one’s position in society, seeing one’s place in professional community, ability to analyze experience and professional success.
