Abstract: The article deals with the process of formation and development of professional value orientations of students, regards the concepts of value, value orientations, profession and professional value orientations, substantiates the introduction of students in a new social situation of development. The author provides the results of an empirical research which involved students of the 1st-2nd courses of Pervouralsk metallurgical college. By means of the method of hierarchical cluster analysis six clusters of values which make up the structure of professional value orientations of students of metallurgical college are revealed and described: professional self-realization, intelligent approach to life, self-affirmation and moral values, individualistic values, major vital spheres, major terminal values and meaning-in-life orientations. The analysis of this structure showed that the most important clusters are professional self-realization, intelligent approach to life and major terminal values and meaning-in-life orientations. In conclusion, the author offers recommendations for the formation and development of professional value orientations of college students.
