Abstract: The article puts forward a thesis about the possibility and necessity of using single-board computer Raspberry Pi in education. The main advantages of Raspberry Pi are small size, low power consumption, a complete operating system, free software and low price. Due to the presence of general-purpose input/output ports it allows one to program real devices, physical systems and objects, which allows a better visual representation of the results of the work than creation of virtual images on the monitor screen. All this enhances the interest of students and provides a better understanding of the result. The use of free software is a means of creating critical, independent thinking. Implementation of a continuous system of teaching robotics and programming Lego2012-Raspberry Pi allows speaking about the formation of computational thinking, which is needed for designing computer solved problems, demanded not only in training technical specialists, but also in many other spheres of human activity. In a pedagogical university Pi can be applied in various fields of study as a versatile tool. In particular, the article gives an example of its use for teaching students network technologies.
