Innovative Methods in the Process of Training Children of Pre-school Age to Swim

Abstract: This article studies the introduction of innovative technology in the methodology of the first-level teaching of pre-school age children to swim with regard to their psycho-physiological characteristics. Bathing, games and water-based entertainment are among the healthiest types of physical exercises improving children’s health: strengthening their nervous and muscular system, improving their musculoskeletal apparatus and learning to operate it. Therefore, the recreational nature is the first priority at swimming trainings in kindergartens. The authors of this article regard the swimming pool as one of the most important treatment in the unified health-improving system of children in a preschool institution. Relatively, the authors have offered a teaching methodology for teaching to swim by means of figurative comparison in names and explanations of exercises, which helps better understanding of the task and thus make the process of training easier. As authors note to make swimming trainings more efficient, it is necessary to apply innovative methods (elements of yoga at physical training in kindergartens, rhythmic exercises at swimming trainings, funk-aerobics) and modular equipment, contributing to creation of positive emotional atmosphere of a training, raising interest and desire for overcoming the difficulties and enjoying the process by the children.
