Abstract: This is an overview of the 80-year collaboration between the Faculty of Geography and Biology and the Department of Biology, Ecology and Methods of Teaching. The paper highlights the main achievements of Professors and Lecturers at different stages of biological education development in the Ural State Pedagogical University (USPU). The changes in the structure in biological education in USPU are shown in historical aspect. The paper discusses the contribution of the biological station and the scientific laboratory of the faculty to the development of scientific biological researches in 1970-1980s. The main areas and results of the scientific and methodological collaboration of the staff with different scientific and research institutes, universities, additional educational establishments and voluntary scientific bodies are described. It is emphasized that the scientific and methodological works of the staff and post-graduates of all the biological departments of the faculty covered the most urgent issues of Biology, theory and methods of teaching Biology and Ecology. Almost all the lecturers of the Department are experts of contests and research projects held in Ekaterinburg and Sverdlovsk Region. The paper mentions the areas of research that lecturers of the Department dealt with at different stages of biological education development. Today the staff of the Department are a group of likeminded people who support the continuity of profession, theoretical knowledge, practical activity and traditions in teaching.
