Teaching and Scientific Research of Russian Phonetics: Basic Level

Abstract: Following the needs of modern students we adjust our training program and introduce effective methods and technologies of teaching Russian based on multiple scientific research works. Russian phonetics has a lot of peculiarities. We teach Russian phonetics beginning with simple sounds passing on to more difficult ones, especially those that change the meaning of words. Integrated teaching of Russian phonetics includes three complementary areas, which are described in this article. We analyze methods of teaching Russian phonetics, characterize consonants and clusters of consonants within a word and describe articulation and pronunciation of consonants. The paper also studies intonational models of the Russian language, analyzes pitch of tone and discusses the problem of differential teaching and learning due to the influence of dialects. Special attention is paid to the analysis and development of methods of teaching.
