Abstract: The article is devoted to the question of understanding the meaning of spirituality and morality in their unity of spiritual and moral education, which is intended to carry out the process of cultural transmission in the system of national education. Historically, there are two ways of understanding spirituality as one of the incarnations of people – religious and secular. According to this position, the author reveals the different approaches to the definition of spirituality, which is interpreted as a result of the internal characteristics of a person turning to the highest values, the ideal and the conscious aspiration to self-improvement, which is the core of morality. We consider the relationship between the concepts of morality as a system of requirements and morality as a system of values where morality is the highest stage of human communication. It is emphasized that the spiritual and moral education of people is inextricably linked with the "ennobled" cognitive process, where knowledge is imbued with content, valuable to humans and giving meaning to life, actions and activities.
Key words: Spirituality, morality, morals, spiritual and moral education, cultural transmission.
