Abstract: The article shows the results of a student’s psychological characteristics study held in Mechanical Engineering Institute of the Ural Federal University. To conduct the study we used tests to determine the extent of human responsibility for their own actions, the level of students' motivation to the process and learning outcomes, as well as the motivation to succeed. Laziness identification test allows to draw conclusions about the extent of the activity of human behavior. Attention is drawn to the fact that the overall level of internality is below the high grade and motivation levels are different. An attempt is made to explain the results of the study; the prospects for further research are outlined.
