Abstract: The article discusses the policy of the Soviet Union in the sphere of professional training of elementary college teachers at the schools of the second stage with a pedagogical bias in the Urals in the 1920-s. The work of the government to eliminate the shortage of the teachers in the region in the second half on the 1920-s, in the second half on the 1940-s and in the early 1950-s is studied in detail, which allows to show continuity in the state policy in the sphere of education, and to reveal specific features of different historical periods. The system of training primary school teachers in the additional 11th grade in comprehensive schools for women in the regional centers of the Urals in the second half of the 1940-s, during the post-war period, is analyzed. The work of the teaching classes in different periods of the Soviet history is studied, as it used to be an important source for elimination of the shortage of primary school teachers. Material support of the teaching classes is analyzed in detail, as well as the peculiarities of the teaching staff, the content and forms of classes and pedagogical practice.
