Abstract: The article presents the main results of the Russian scientific conference with the foreign participants «The XXth Historical and Pedagogical Conference», held by the Faculty of History of the Ural State Pedagogical University and the Institute of History and Archeology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in March, 2016. The Chairman of the organizing committee was G.E. Kornilov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of the RF. There were more than 250 participants, among them the scholars from the academic institutes, university lecturers, post-graduate students, school teachers from ore that 30 cities from Russian and abroad. The opening speech of the USPU Rector A.A. Simonova underlined the importance and the urgency of the questions of the state policy concerning historical education. The discussion of the processes of education and teaching History in retrospection makes it possible to analyze and generalize the past experience and to find the perspective fields for further research. The speeches at the plenary session outlined the main scientific historical and educational problems; they made the basis for further discussion during roundtables. The participants of the conference agreed that the topical educational tasks at school and university are to continue the fundamental scientific and historical researches and to generalize the theoretical and methodological aspects of History teaching. The results of the conference are published in the three parts of the annual journal «Education and Teaching History at School and University: the Historical Experience, Current State and Trends of Development».
