The Study of Motivation of Adolescents to Learn in the Process of School Geographical Education

Abstract: The article discusses motivation of 8-9 grades students to study Geography. The authors define the concepts of "motivation", "motivation training" and "leading activity". The importance of the study of motivation to learning is connected with the implementation of the state program of education development of Kazakhstan for 2011-2020 aimed at increasing the quality, competitiveness and prestige of education in Kazakhstan, as well as development of human capital and consequently growth of the Kazakh economy. Academic motivation is discussed in the article as a condition of achievement of good results in learning and improving the quality of education in general. The authors present the results of an experiment to reveal the level of motivation of secondary school students of the cities of Pavlodar, Ekibastuz, rural schools of Pavlodar region (the Republic of Kazakhstan) to learning Geography.
