Abstract: The article discusses the questions of development of aesthetic qualities of the identity of students in educational work of higher pedagogical institution. We give an overview of the studies devoted to various aspects of aesthetic education in Philosophy, Psychology and Pedagogy. On the basis of this analysis we give our definition of the concept. Aesthetic education is development of aesthetic qualities of the personality (perception, aesthetic taste and experience), the needs for aesthetic development of reality, activities for transformation of the surrounding world according to aesthetic standards. We also provide definition for the concept of “aesthetic taste”. Social and material conditions of development of aesthetic taste of students as one of aesthetic qualities of the personality are allocated. Methods and means of educational work aimed at the development of students’ aesthetic qualities of Institute of Physics, Technology and Economy of USPU are offered.
