Abstract: The article addresses the question of professional motivation of future teachers of tourist disciplines. Groups of motives, their indicators, characteristics and conditions for more effective formation of a high level professional motivation of students are defined. Professional motivation of a future teacher of tourism is an integral process of the professional’s activity, which stimulates professional self-improvement, self-development of emotional and strong-willed qualities, acquisition of new professional knowledge and skills, which in turn gives the opportunity to show initiative, creativity and not to experience uncertainty when committing acts or making decisions. The concept of professional motivation allows the student to solve the questions that motivate him to this type of activity, to realize what he wants to work for, to realize his goals and conformity of his aspirations to the values and needs of society. While conducting the research, we focused on the individuality of the students, supporting their natural gifts and talents and what they gained from individual experience. Speaking about the individuality of the future teacher, we have in mind the existence of a special hierarchy of motives, among which the motive of professional self-assertion occupies the main place and determines the direction of the individual. This direction is characterized by the dominant strategic goals and objectives that the student sets himself. If such a goal or idea is the desire to become a professional teacher, then the process of developing the individuality of the motives of the future teacher becomes the most optimal, the student shows activity and organization in studies, strives to perform each assigned task better, that is, shows pedagogical self-organization.
