Abstract: Ensemble acting is one of the wide spread and popular kinds of music performances both in the system of secondary and supplementary education of children. Different children’s ensembles open wide opportunities for every member. Every child can be a principal performer and a member of a band making a unique piece of music. Organization and functioning of the children’s musical ensemble depends on many factors, including the developed communicative skills that reveal themselves at rehearsals, concerts and in other kinds of work. Thus the leader of the ensemble, apart from technical and artistic tasks, should develop communicative skills of children, the level of which is determined by the teachers in diagnostic procedures for the children. The subject of the article is the evaluation procedure to determine the level of formation of communication skills of primary school children -members of a violin band. The goal of the article is to set the criteria and methods for measuring the development of communicative skills of primary school children - members of the violin band, required for the performance of the violin pieces. The methods of research are analysis of the literature, questionnaire, survey of teachers, summarizing the results of the evaluation. The results obtained in the course of evaluation procedure may serve as a basis for the development of the program of formation of communicative skills for the members of different bands.
