Abstract: The aim of this article is to study the motivational readiness for vandal behavior among adolescents in the context of characteristics of their subjectivity. Vandalism is considered as a specific destructive strategy of behavior, allowing a teenager to realize their needs, influence the world and the social environment without addressing to adults. The following methods of empirical research were used: descriptive statistics, comparative analysis and linear regression analysis, as well as psychological diagnostics of adolescents studying in secondary schools of the Sverdlovsk Region and the Perm Region (12-15 years, n = 456) using the questionnaire "Motives of vandalism" by I.V. Vorobyeva, O.V. Kruzhkova, S.A. Ostrikova and the questionnaire "Biography of subjectivity" by O.I. Motkova. As a result, it was found that the sample of adolescents was divided into two contrast groups, different in their level of readiness for vandalism. At the same time, adolescents with high readiness for vandalism (26.8% of the sample) have higher indices of such characteristics of subjectivity as independence, creativity, harmonious personality, strong will, firmness in difficult periods of life. At the same time, the main factor associated with these characteristics of the adolescent's subjectivity is the existential motive of vandalism, that is, the teenager's desire to demonstrate his capabilities and to find himself in the social space. Thus, the desire of a teenager to show himself and understand his opportunities in influencing the material and social environment with a relatively small spectrum of accessible technologies of social interaction provokes him to destructive activity with objects of others’ and public property.
Key words: Vandalism; vandal activity; destructive behavior; strategy of behavior; teenager; empirical research.
