Abstract: This paper is of interest to those who teach Russian as a foreign language to Chinese students. The aim of the paper is to introduce a new system of methods of teaching listening comprehension of a news text. This methodology is based on identification of semantic core of the text and learning of keywords. The methodology is suitable for the students of Chinese universities majoring in Russian. Such students have to pass a test in Russia of the 8th level. The methodology is worked out on the basis of exam tasks of the previous years, and it aims at simplification of the training process. The methodology was tested during the last three years in Jilin Huaqiao University of Foreign Languages. The paper provides theoretical bases of this system of methods; describes the goals and tasks of this course and specifies its place in the educational program. Attention is paid to the tasks in listening comprehension in the level 8 test and their conformity to the state educational standard. The authors of the paper single out the topics of news, which are included in the test. The main difficulties of listening comprehension of a news text are highlighted. The causes of failures are listed. The paper provides the structure of a lesson, where the process of class work is described in detail. To explain the methodology an example is given: semantic core is described, keywords are listed and included in synonymic chains. In conclusion the paper summarizes the essence of this methodology.
