Abstract: The article is devoted to an important problem – the organization of independent work of students when mastering "Audial Culture" training course. The author's interpretation of the concepts "audial culture", "sound environment" is presented in the article. The research reveals the interconnection and interdependence of the audial culture and sound environment; it describes the essence of the concept of "independent work"; identifies the goal, tasks and criteria for assessing students' independent work, as well as its forms anf types. The article presents a set of tasks for independent work of students-culturologists and an algorithm for their implementation when mastering the training course "Audial Culture": 1) assignment for the correlation of related concepts - "culture", "audial culture", "musical culture"; identification of specificity of auditory culture determining its place in the system of general culture; 2) task to determine the specific features of the sound environment; correlation of the concepts "environment", "sound environment", "educational environment", the identification of links and interdependence of the sound environment and audial culture; 3) task-analysis of modern educational programs from the point of view of formation of audial culture of students; 4) task-analysis of modern methods for diagnosing the audial development of schoolchildren; development of tests aimed at revealing the level of audial culture of students; 5) development of a program of educational work of an educational organization for the formation of an audial culture of schoolchildren; 6) the development of projects for the pupils, aimed at formation of their audial culture; 7) development of a plan for extra-curricular activities aimed at creating an audial culture of schoolchildren; 8) task-analysis of methods and forms of formation of audial culture of schoolchildren; 9) development of tasks aimed at the audial development of students and the formation of their audial culture; 10) development of classes aimed at forming an audial culture of students.
