Abstract: The article defines the concepts of "additional education", "additional linguistic education in the sphere of culture", "principles of teaching", "innovations". Based on the analysis of psycho-pedagogical and methodological literature, long-term practical experience and survey conducted in the Institution of Culture “Elizavetinskiy” in Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk region, the principles of teaching a foreign language in the sphere of additional language education are highlighted. In the article the following principles of education are presented: innovation of the educational process (introduction of new into goals, content, methods and forms of teaching and upbringing, organisation of joint activities of the teacher and students); the creativity of the learning process (the tendency to perform creative activities at the lessons of a foreign language); familiarizing the students with the culture of the country of the foreign language (acquaintance with traditions, customs, holidays of the country of the foreign language, poetry and literature at the lessons and through the concert activity in the system of additional education); quality of pedagogical process of education in the sphere of additional education (quality teaching of the subject "foreign language" by teachers of the appropriate level of higher education); the freedom to choose the language material by the teacher (the teacher can choose the educational and methodological materials for students taking into account their age, individual, intellectual abilities, anticipating the result of learning); anticipation of teaching a foreign language in the sphere of additional education (aimed at the deep study of some topics, grammatical material and lexical units); consistency of training (the organization of additional training should complement the system of basic school education). These principles determine the essence of the educational process in the sphere of additional education.
