Abstract: The article deals with the development of students’ digital storytelling project. The context of using the concept of "storytelling", the reasons of effectiveness of storytelling as an information and value transfer method are considered. The types of storytelling (spoken, written, digital) are also mentioned, special attention is paid to digital storytelling as a method of electronic communication based on organization of multimedia content around one story. The reasons for the relevance of this method multimedia content organization at the present stage of development of information and communication technologies are analyzed, and high requirements to information products are discussed. The use of storytelling in education is analyzed in two aspects: as a method of promoting knowledge within the edutainment educational technology, and as a method of students’ project activities forming media skills. The article presents forms of digital storytelling: videos, whiteboard and 2D animations, presentations, comics, storyboards and electronic publications. The article lists software products and multimedia formats, as well as tools which facilitate the selection of materials for a project, development of scenes and publication of digital storytelling. The method of storytelling project activity organization is described, which includes the stages of concept development, collection and analysis of information, telling of story, storyboarding, editing, presentation, and publication. The range of competences which are developed in the course of digital storytelling project activities of pupils is revealed.
