Features of Competence Formation of Engineers: In the Framework of Post-graduate Training

Abstract: The article considers the topical issues of training of graduate students of the engineering areas. It discusses engineering thinking formation based on the existing and innovative technologies with regard to the requirements of the new Federal State Standard of Education and the concept of modernization of Russian education. The consistent and permanent use of technology in the educational process as a goal, tasks, principles, forms, contents, and condition may contribute to the more efficient use of technology in learning and production processes, the more successful mastering of future profession, the convergence of all forms of educational process with the features of the future engineering professional activities particularly in the field of electricity and use of electrical energy in agriculture, etc. It also promotes gradual transition from the cognitive (knowledge) pedagogy to competence- and activity-based teaching. The increasing technologization of the educational process is the most effective way of mastering the content of educational material and acquisition of the skills and competencies necessary for research work. It also provides the opportunities to develop abilities to work in a team, the ability to run a dialogue on professional, personal and everyday topics and to develop leadership skills. The results of the study can be used for psycho-pedagogical adaptation of students to new conditions of educational process, innovations, and improve the quality of the training.
